'Hospital Food can be Really Good'
John Hickson has a bold statement to make—“Hospital food can be really good.”
Hickson is the director of support services at Southern Surgical Hospital in Slidell, or in layman’s terms, he is the director and chef of the kitchen.
While the 49-year-old smiles and has to agrees there is still a reputation of “hospital food” at many health care facilities, he is changing that for the patients at Southern Surgical one plate at a time. Since coming on board at Southern Surgical in 2015, Hickson has brought a phenomenal resume of experience and success in many areas of food preparation, cleanliness and kitchen safety. He is nationally recognized for his culinary knowledge and expertise in the world of specialized health care food and nutrition.
