St. Charles, IL - The Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP) hosted its Annual Conference & Expo (ACE) from June 6-9 at the M Resort, Spa & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The theme of the conference was “Achieving Stellar Outcomes - Viva La Foodservice!” and more than 500 attendees participated in four days of education, networking, and exhibits.
The Keynote Opening Session kicked off the conference. Marilyn Sherman, CSP, presented the audience with Front-Row Leadership. Her presentation focused on how to be a positive, stress-free leader to increase employee morale, engagement, sales, and more.
Education sessions covered a variety of topics including: dementia, QAPI, designing a kitchen, mentorship, regulations, surveys and risk factors, global cuisine, food allergies, vegetarian cuisine, and other CDM practice areas. Highlights included a panel discussing leadership and ensuring professional competency among team members.
The Annual Business Meeting & Leadership Recognition Breakfast saw the installation of the 2017-18 Board of Directors for ANFP, including Chair Ken Hanson, CPM, CDM, CFPP.
The three-hour expo featured more than 50 exhibitors displaying a variety of foodservice products, innovations, and trends. During the show, attendees also participated in the Ecolab-sponsored Clean the World service project, where they packaged 655 pounds of assorted hygiene items that were delivered to those in need. Additionally, ACE exhibitors compiled 452 pounds of food and non-food items from the expo that were delivered to local agencies, via Three Square.
In addition to education and exhibits, ACE also featured the ANFP Resource Kiosk, a place for members to ask questions, voice concerns, and learn more about many of the valuable member benefits available to them. There were also networking events including an Opening Reception, Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, and ANFP Honors Gala.
At the ANFP Honors Gala, individuals were recognized with awards for demonstrating the highest level of dedication to the association and foodservice industry. Award recipients are listed HERE.
ANFP’s philanthropic arm, the Nutrition & Foodservice Education Foundation, hosted its annual fundraising event during the Gala that raised more than $7,500 for scholarships, research funding, and other foundation initiatives.
Attendees are already looking forward to next year’s Annual Conference & Expo, which will be held June 1-4, 2018 at the Renaissance SeaWorld in Orlando, FL.
