Ambassador Award

Candas Schouvieller, LNHA

Candas is the CEO/Administrator at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, MN and is responsible for the day-to-day operations and the financial health of the organization. Candas has been part ANFP for 12 years and was the recipient of the Minnesota ANFP Employer of the Year award in 2017. She encourages her staff to advance their careers and accomplish their goals through continuing education. Candas advocates for the credential by providing support for dietary staff by allowing them the time needed and by providing the financial support necessary to maintain their credential.

Partnership Award

Michelle R. Cramm, CDM, CFPP

Michelle is currently employed by Unidine Corporation in Boston, MA as Senior Director, Culture & Field Training. Michelle began her career working in restaurants and senior living accounts prior to joining Unidine in 2007. During her career with Unidine, she has spent more than seven years in operations management. During this time, she earned her CDM, CFPP certification. In 2014, she joined the human resources department and was able to embrace and share her passion for teaching others and advocating for ANFP and the CDM, CFPP credential. Through her partnerships, she provided CE program bundles from ANFP for team members and developed and supported a CDM, CFPP reimbursement program. She remains active with her chapter offering CE opportunities, preparing presentations, and using her professional network to assist with chapter meeting speakers.

Horizon Award

Robin Hilbird-Bardgett, CDM, CFPP

Only in foodservice management since 2014, Robin quickly worked her way up to manager at the Arbor Café at Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, WY. Prior to obtaining the manager’s position, she worked diligently to earn her CDM, CFPP credential and did so successfully in 2016. She has led her team in growing service lines, maintaining 90+% customer/patient satisfaction, and is passionate about applying her knowledge to reinforce patient safety and the hospital’s values. She is currently WY ANFP treasurer and hopes to continue her involvement with the chapter with future leadership and volunteer roles.

Innovation Award

Amy Foote, CDM, CFPP

A CDM, CFPP since 2016, Chef Amy has found her most rewarding mission: serving the first people of Alaska, the Alaskan Natives at the Alaska Native Medical Center. At the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium Campus, she facilitates 3,000 daily meals in three retail outlets. She has championed a traditional foods program which falls under the 2014 Farm Bill, allowing indigenous foods to be served in healthcare, long-term care, and schools. In two years she has increased traditional food offerings on the patient menu to 66% from less than 30%. Donations such as arctic berries, spruce tips, herring eggs, sheefish, Sitka black-tail deer, moose, fiddlehead ferns, and seal have debuted on the patient menu at the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Dining Distinction Award

Lisa Berrett, CDM, CFPP

Lisa is currently the Dietary Manager at Life Care Centers of Boise, and previously worked for 11 years at West Valley Medical Center. She takes great pride in the appearance of the dining room atmosphere to promote a pleasant and enjoyable experience for all residents regardless of the dining room setting in which they eat. She goes above and beyond the facility expectations to provide ongoing interviews/visits with residents often to hear their concerns, requests, and complaints as needed, while still complying with physician orders and facility guidelines. She has created an atmosphere that her residents and families feel safe interacting in and approaching her, which positively impacts their quality of life. She has been a member of ANFP since 2005 and is currently serving as the treasurer for her local chapter.

Distinguished Service Award (Member)

Larry Jackson, CDM, CFPP

Larry is currently the Cafeteria Manager at Furlow Charter School with the Sumter Co. School System. Prior to his current role, he worked at the Sumter Medical Center for 37 years in the food and nutrition department as the Assistant Director. Larry has served ANFP in many roles, including the Board of Directors, Leadership Development Committee, and the Government Affairs Committee. Additionally, Larry is a past president of the ANFP Georgia chapter as well as a secretary and many other key leadership roles. In 2000, he was the first recipient of the Larry J. Jackson Community Service Award, an award given for going beyond the call of duty to make a difference. Larry earned his CDM, CFPP in 2006 from Auburn University.

Distinguished Service Award (Corporate)

Cindy Cysewski, MS, RD, LDN

Cindy is currently the Director of Healthcare for Lyons Magnus, an ANFP Corporate Partner since 2000. She has worked as a clinical dietitian in various positions (acute, long-term care, consultant) for more than 10 years and with a foodservice distributor for eight years. She speaks throughout the country at various ANFP state meetings and continually advocates for continuing education in the foodservice and nutrition fields. She raises awareness of ANFP and the credential through educating individuals as well as other organizations throughout the industry. She graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelors of Science in Food Nutrition and received her Masters in Clinical Nutrition from Rush University.

CDM, CFPP Spotlight Award

Lisa A. Hoffman, CDM, CFPP

Lisa is currently the North Region Director of Nutrition Services for Fairview Health Services. She is responsible for regional management of staff, finances, food services, clinical nutrition, and retail operations, as well as catering and special events. Lisa’s passion is increasing engagement with teams and has recently increased the sustainable engagement percentage from 50% to 88% this year. Lisa has been a member of ANFP since 1996, and she received the Minnesota CDM of the Year award last fall. She is actively involved in the chapter and has served on the membership committee and communications team. Lisa earned her CDM, CFPP at Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, MN.

Legacy Award

Dorothy M. Radermacher, CDM, CFPP

Dorothy, a retired member, is an active volunteer with ANFP on the chapter and national level. Dorothy currently serves on the Awards & Recognition and Leadership Development Committees at the chapter level. She has served as the Minnesota chapter president, strategic planning chair, and as a member of the Education Committee in addition to other roles. At the national level, Dorothy is currently serving on the Chapter Leadership Team. She brings to the table more than 35 years of experience in healthcare foodservice, working with all age groups from neonatal in acute care to long-term care and hospice. Dorothy has a strong interest in mentoring and helping others develop leadership skills and has a true dedication to volunteerism.

Foodservice Department of the Year Award

Cook Medical Center - Adel, Georgia

Cook Medical Center has been chosen to receive the 2018 Foodservice Department of the Year Award! As a team, the center’s staff has grown together by applying their knowledge of company standards and the food safety of their patients and residents. Cook Medical team received 100% food scores from the county health inspectors and passed state inspections with no F-tag infractions. Additionally, more than half of the team successfully passed the ServSafe® manager certification course, and three individuals were recognized by the hospital as Employee of the Month! The department came in under budget for the year, increased retail sales in their cafeteria compared to 2016 sales, and received the highest tier in the interdepartmental survey.

All of this was accomplished during a time when the department experienced a shortage of staff due to family medical leave, illness, and natural disasters. In January 2017, the community was affected by a tornado outbreak, followed by the devastation of Hurricane Irma in mid-September. Staff rallied together to serve volunteers, emergency response teams, hospital residents, and staff. Despite these hurdles, staff was able to overcome these challenges and achieve their financial pillar goal and succeed specifically in the areas of survey and inspections.

Cook Medical Center’s mission is to serve the health needs of their patients, residents, staff and those in their community. The Center continues to work on the development of growth and service through community spirit projects, and staff is dedicated to bringing the best of themselves to the department and Cook Medical Center.

Diamond Award

North Carolina ANFP

North Carolina ANFP demonstrated its commitment to its members and community by increasing the visibility and awareness of the CDM CFPP brand. Members giving back to the community has increased the respect and knowledge of the CDM, and provided the framework to show why the credential remains the standard of excellence. The NC ANFP chapter hosted community events such as a golf tournament and casino night that helped to raise funds for local children to attend Camp Cocoon, a camp for bereaved and displaced children. Additionally, the NC ANFP chapter focused on the engagement of the membership, and provided a gateway to the future that allowed them to communicate and spark conversation with friends far and near. The chapter introduced a sleek, efficient, and user-friendly app dedicated to the ANFP chapter and their state members, for easily accessible and up-to-date information at all times. Because of these initiatives, their efforts have created a community of generous CDMs that will continue to grow in the coming years.
